Curriculum Intent Statement

Our ambitious, academic, knowledge-rich curriculum is designed in order to open doors for all learners and develop a love of the written and spoken word. We believe that exposure to seminal texts and authors and an exploration of how writers can play with form allows our learners to appreciate and emulate excellent writing. We have also structured our curriculum so that learning is cumulative, allowing our learners to strengthen their understanding, enabling them to leave school as fully-fledged readers and writers of literature. Finally, we believe that developing empathy and authentic responses in English will allow our young people to thrive in the real world.
