Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic' This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic  In this unit students will learn the importance of keeping a healthy lifestyle involving food, nutrition and a balanced diet. They will appreciate the consequences of living an unhealthy lifestyle and learn the importance of responsible nutrition by acquiring the knowledge to decipher the nutrition information on food packaging.
This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding  There well maybe a great variety of prior knowledge due to content covered by feeder primary schools and what has been covered at home. This will discovered through class discussions, debates and other formative methods to ensure a base line of knowledge has been acquired and able to be retrieved.
Key Skills that students should be able to demonstrate at the end of 'Topic' This is the skills  that students will meet for the first time in this topic In order to prepare students for life they must be given the opportunity to develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, teamworking and critical thinking in the context of three core themes: health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world (including economic wellbeing and aspects of careers education). Students will acquire the skills to make healthy judgements and decide for themselves what a balanced lifestyle is. They will be able to discuss the consequences of living an unhealthy lifestyle and be able to work towards taking the responsibility of eating healthily. Students will know how to discover nutrition information and decipher food packaging information. They will also be aware of the current Government recommendations regarding active lifestyles and exercise.
This is skills that students may have met before but will need to develop
