Students will learn how to design from a context. Students will study how power is generated from renewable resources. Students will learn about basic techniques and materials used in the construction industry. Students will further develop their Iterative Design Skills. Students will further develop their skills using marking out, hand and machine tools. |

This project will introduce students to the concept of 'Designing from a context'. The context chosen will be 'Produce power from a renewable resource'. Students will learn how to analyse a task, generate initial ideas, prototyping, modeling, developing ideas, iterating a design, producing a final product, testing and evaluation. Students will develop an understanding of how power is produced from a wide range of renewable resources. Students will explore the techniques and materials used in the construction industry and how they are applied in domestic and commercial contexts. |

Students will be able to name construction/resistant materials used within this industry and describe the methods and techniques used to manipulate these materials. Students will be able to confidently use marking out, hand and machine tools to produce a prototype/model/final product. |
