What will students learn Students will refine their Iterative Design Skills. Students will improve their marking out skills, shaping and finishing techniques. Students will enjoy greater confidence using Pillar Drill, Sander and Hegner Saw. Students will have basic instruction of how to set up these machines.
Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic' This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic  Students will be able to explain how the Iterative Design process increases efficiency and provides increased opportunities for product development. They will understand why accurate marking out is essential during the preliminary sequence of Product Design. Students will be able to name and confidently use a selection of hand tools. Students will demonstrate accuracy and skill when assembling the product and show creativity and a variety of finishing techniques when completing their product.
This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding  Students will have knowledge of the Iterative Design Process. Students will have knowledge of basic marking out techniques. Students will have refined shaping and finishing skills. Overall students will have a suite of skills which will provide a solid foundation for KS4.
Key Skills that students should be able to demonstrate at the end of 'Topic' This is the skills  that students will meet for the first time in this topic Students will be able to mark out accurately using a simple drawing. Students will be able to use a variety of hand and finishing tools safely and accurately. Students will be able to effectively assemble the product and demonstrate skill and creativity when applying finishing techniques.
This is skills that students may have met before but will need to develop

Students will be able to identify all hand and machine tools visually. Students will be able to perform some basic procedures used when setting up the Pillar Drill, changing the drill bit, adjusting the height of the table & using machine vice etc.
