When is it happening  Half Term 5 Year 8
What will students learn  Students will learn about the difference between biographies and autobiographies as well as studying a selection of extracts from autobiographies of various important people in history.  Students will also learn about perception by learning to compare the autobiographical account with the account of the same person/event in other biographies.  Students will learn how to produce their own autobiographical extract and a biographical extract for someone else.  Students will develop their formal letter writing skills.  As an independent learning task, students will re-read their knowledge organisers from previous units in order to refresh learning on seminal authors’ biographical details as inspiration for the biographies
Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic' This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic  What is autobiography and biography; extracts from autobiographies and biographies of various important historical figures including:- Nicola Adams, Muhammad Ali, Michelle Obama, Barack Obama, Charles Dickens, Joe Simpson; comparison of one autobiographical account with a biographical account; biographical and autobiographical writing; formal letter writing.
This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding
