Year 9 Historians tour York

Our Year 9 historians had a great day exploring the historic sites of York as a reward for their entry in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Competition.
Students were taken to York by train and had an interactive learning session at the Jorvik Viking Centre.
Students were impressed by the archaeological finds of the Coppergate dig and even emersed themselves in the sights, noises and smells of Viking York.
A short walk was made to York Minster. Here, students were able to take in the grand infrastructure whilst also learning about the city of York and the development of the Minster itself from the Romans to the present day.
This visit compliments the current study of the GCSE unit Migrants in Britain, c.800-present.
