What will students learn Students should build upon their basic drawing skills in relation to accurate scale and proportion alongside the use of tone to show form.  Students should also be able to draw accurate and detailed facial features which are in the correct proportions and show the form of the face based on  historical artists.  Students should be able to identify areas of contrast in a photographic portrait before using knowledge and understanding of colour theory to select a cohesive colour scheme and creating a painted personal responses to the work of contemporary artist Shepard Fairey.

Understanding of proportion of the face.

Knowledge of portraiture from different times in history.  

Knowledge of the plotting technique.

How Art can be used to put a message across.

Greater understanding of stylization and how it can apply to portraiture.

How to simplify a drawing.
