What will students learn Countries, weather, accommodation, lengths of time, modes of transport, holiday activities, perfect tense, opinions about holidays, modal verb 'können' [man kann], tourist sights and activities, letter writing vocabulary, Christmas.
Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic' This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic  Countries, weather, accommodation, lengths of time, modes of transport, holiday activities, perfect tense, opinions about holidays, modal verb 'koennen' [man kann], tourist sights and activities, letter writing vocabulary, Christmas.
This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding  Knowledge of phonics (ie, ei and umlauts), countries, numbers, verb forms, opinion phrases, 'es gibt' + acc, using TMP (time, manner, place).
Key Skills that students should be able to demonstrate at the end of 'Topic' This is the skills  that students will meet for the first time in this topic Using lengths of time, sequencing longer pieces of writing, the perfect tense, modal verbs, TMP word order.
This is skills that students may have met before but will need to develop  Using knowledge of new vocabulary and structures to adapt and extend sentences to create more interesting extended pieces of writing. Use and awareness of the perfect tense.
Key vocabulary that students should know and understand Vocabulary on weather, countries, modes of transport, accommodation, holiday activities, geography of Germany, tourist places, Christmas in Germany.
