When is it happening  Term 2 Year 7
What  students will learn? Students must be able to use pencil to show a range of shapes pattern and mark making. Observational skills are used to create designs based on primary source material with accurate shapes and proportions. Students are able to use the work of artists' to design and build paper construction and spherical clay forms using techniques inspired by the theme of 'Sea Creatures'. Paper and clay are  successfully manipulated, shaped, joined and coloured. Students are able to use pattern and colour successfully in their work.
Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic' This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic  New knowledge of a contemporary artist Claire Youngs, Louise Hibbert, Catrin Mostyn Jones, Jason Scarpace and how to use their work as inspiration for their own creations.
This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding  Students should have gained knowledge of the colour wheel and colour mixing. They should understand what harmonious and contrasting colours are.
Key Skills that students should be able to demonstrate at the end of 'Topic' This is the skills  that students will meet for the first time in this topic How to use mixed media techniques of creating surface pattern such as oil and ink resist. Pattern using different surfaces.
This is skills that students may have met before but will need to develop  The opportunity to build on their basic skills of colour, pattern and mark making and to make their own choices inspired by an artist.
