When is it happening  Half Term 5 Year 7
What will students learn Students will learn about a range of genres linked to the theme of other worlds though the primary focus will be fantasy and science-fiction. Students will study and gain knowledge from a selection of extracts taken from seminal works in the studied genres. Students will write a narrative essay paying homage to one of the genres and authors studied during this unit.
Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic' This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic  Genres:- science-fiction, fantasy, dystopia, fairy-tale; extracts from seminal works covering the core genres:- Philip K Dick, Isaac Asimov, George Orwell, JRR Tolkien, Neil Gaiman, Suzanne Collins, James Dashner, Veronica Roth, Julia Donaldson, Hans Christian Anderson.
This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding
