When is it happening  Half Term 6 Year 7
What will students learn Students will learn about Shakespeare, his life and times, and his canon.  Students will then focus on a single play and learn about this in-depth, including aspects of performance.  As part of this study, students will learn about script writing in order to write their own script and perform either this or an extract from the studied play
Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic' This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic  Shakespeare’s life; life in Elizabethan England; overview of Shakespeare’s canon; purpose and characters in The Twelfth Night; how The Twelfth Night is conveyed through performance; script-writing.
This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding 

Regular retrieval of the knowledge described above will be retrieved as well as:

What speech looks like.
Key Skills that students should be able to demonstrate at the end of 'Topic' This is the skills  that students will meet for the first time in this topic Students will focus on acquiring the following skills: Write like a poet and a playwright; recognising poetic conventions; understanding performance.
