What will students learn Students will have the opportunity to devise their own work making considerations for its purpose and target audience.  Through response to different types of stimuli students will develop empathy and knowledge around a key theme that is relevant to young people today.  Students will create work for a target audience with the aim of it being to deliver/highlight an important message/issue.
Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic' This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic  Students will learn about the purpose drama serves in educating people about issues within society and giving a voice to all.  Through a theme they will learn about the role it plays in the lives of young people today.  They will learn to use collaborative skills to create a devised piece of theatre from stimuli.
This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding  Students will use their knowledge of how to communicate effectively within groups and responding to given scenarios in order to create material.
Key Skills that students should be able to demonstrate at the end of 'Topic' This is the skills  that students will meet for the first time in this topic Responding to stimuli - students will be given different types of stimulus within this topic to create performance material. These will range from poems to key words and titles.  They will explore soundscapes to represent the different phone sounds, choral speaking to give life to the poems.  Students will be devising their own work based upon their responses to the given stimuli.
This is skills that students may have met before but will need to develop  Students will be encouraged to explore the theme in different ways each week, creating new material that could inform their final piece.  They will become a mini company that is creating work for a target audience which could be toured in local schools. This work will deliver an important moral. Students will develop their devising skills in order to create their own material from scratch - they will have the opportunity to create their own questionnaire which can used to reflect on the impact of their piece.  Students will revisit the key drama techniques that they have explored in the Applying Drama Technique scheme.
