What will students learn 

Students will have the opportunity to explore Theatre in Education and its purpose in delivering an important message in response to a given brief.  They will learn about the key features of the genre and how to create in this way. 

Students will create work for a target audience with the aim of it to deliver/highlight an important message/issue.
Key Knowledge that students should know at the end of 'Topic' This is the knowledge that students will meet for the first time in this topic  Students will learn about a genre of theatre called Theatre in Education.  They will gain an understanding of how to create work from a stimuli for a specific target audience - aimed at touring schools.  As well as devising material they will learn about the marketing and promotion side of putting on a performance.
This is knowledge that students may have met before but will need to deepen their understanding 

Drawing on the previous knowledge of drama techniques such as Tableuax, thought track and how to use these to highlight key moments within a performance piece. 

Target audience and delivering a moral.
Key Skills that students should be able to demonstrate at the end of 'Topic' This is the skills  that students will meet for the first time in this topic

Marketing and promotion.

Responding to a brief - mind mapping ideas.

Presentational/public speaking skills. Devising from a set brief.
This is skills that students may have met before but will need to develop  Students will become a theatre company of their own that have been commissioned to create a piece of TIE to tour the local schools.  They will need to take on different job roles and prepare a pitch with sections of performance included as a taster.
Key vocabulary that students should know and understand Theatre in Education, Moral, Purpose, Intentions, Forum Theatre, Tableaux.
The Big Question  Why do we use theatre as a way of educating people?
